About Orca Fishing Club
Our Story
The Orca Fishing Club is an organically grown business that was started by a couple of good friends and avid fishermen. With more than 30 years of experience on the water the crew is an encyclopedia of local knowledge. Our in-house fishery biologist gives a great perspective on world wide fisheries and responsible harvests. Together with our amazing climate and immense biodiversity we can truly witness nature at it’s finest.

Deep Sea Fishing
Inshore fishing means we won’t get very far from the coast. We can do a big variety of fishing in a fairly short amount of time. We troll along the coast line with a variety of lures or cast on our special spots with poppers and jigs. We also can vertical jig and slow pitch jig on marked locations several hundred feet deep.

When deep sea fishing we will be targeting bigger fish. We will be going a lot further out to sea so it generally takes more time for fewer but larger fish. We would fast troll top water lures hoping to raise a sail or marlin.

Saltwater fly fishing is one of the most rewarding experiences on the water. It is extremely hard if you’re not an experienced fly fisherman. We stay inshore and sight cast on tuna or jack boils with our homemade streamer flies. We also long cast on rocks hoping for a rooster or snapper. If we are luck we will find a log or a debris line full of mahi mahi.

The pacific coast of Costa Rica is one of the only places in the world that has two populations of humpback whales that have overlapping migration routes. From the beginning of July to the end of October we have a big population of southern humpback whales that come up from the tip of Argentina to calve in our warm waters. And then from

From the beginning of July to the end of October we have a big population of southern humpback whales that come up from the tip of Argentina to calve in our warm waters. And then from December through March we have the norther population that comes from Alaska. Both populations come to seek refuge in our warm shallow waters while they give birth and mate. This makes for a great whale watching experience almost all year round.

Our warm clear waters and abundance of amazing marine life make for some great snorkeling. We have a few shipwrecks and rock formations that you won’t want to miss. Inside the gulf of nicoya lies an archipelago of islands that makes for great beach hopping of uninhabited beaches.

The plankton rich waters come to life at night with bioluminescence. When it is fully dark the water will glow bright florescent blue. It is a microorganism that is activated with movement so swimming at night is the best way to experience this magic.
